Taken has a 2000 era alt-metal vibe, and is the first track of mine where i provide all the vocals. The lyrics deal with the death of someone very close to me. In my head I knew it would take her, but in my heart I was keeping hope alive with her as she fought it. I was her cheerleader remaining positive with her and helping her fight. The song deals with the moment where you must finally admit all hope is lost and she stops fighting, the purgatory of waiting for the inevitable end, and the pressure of making every last minute with her count.
